Dorma Luxury Wool Reversible Mattress Topper im Test

The Dorma Luxury Wool Reversible Mattress Topper is a two-sided topper, with a merino wool face for winter, a 100% cotton reverse for summer and polyester fibre between them. It is the only Dorma topper Dunelm lists as fully machine washable, in a high-capacity launderette machine, and its extra-deep skirt fits mattresses up to 40cm. The regular price is £55 for a single and £65 for a double; when we checked on 5 October 2026, Dunelm had every size at half that, against a higher price last charged in June 2026 according to its price history.

What it is made of

The composition and care instructions come from the Dunelm product page. Dunelm states neither the thickness of the padded layer nor a guarantee. The wool is a surface fabric rather than a wool filling, so it changes how the bed feels against the sheet more than it changes the depth of the bed. The tumble-dry instruction, on a low heat, is unusual for a wool product and saves finding space to dry a topper this size.

Feel and who it suits

We rate it soft, 3 out of 10, though it is better thought of as a padded layer than a comfort upgrade. Turn the wool side up in autumn for a warmer surface, then flip to the cotton in summer. That makes it a good match for people who feel the cold, or for a guest bed that needs freshening between visits, where being able to wash the whole thing counts for more than depth.

It will not soften a hard mattress much. Dunelm’s instruction to use a launderette-size machine also means most households cannot wash it at home, and with 18 reviews averaging 4.6 out of 5 (October 2026) there is little long-term feedback. The wool face makes it unsuitable for vegans.

Under Dunelm’s returns policy it is refundable on a change of mind only if returned unused and sealed, an exception the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 allow for hygiene-sensitive goods.
