A double costs £110 at Dunelm at the time of writing (October 2026), and it gives a soft, feather-bed feel without any feathers.

The details are from the Dunelm product page. The 7cm depth appears in the size names; the 40cm in the bullet points is the mattress depth the straps fit. Dunelm states no guarantee. Being fibre rather than feather, the filling has no quills to work through the cover.

Feel and who it suits

We rate it soft, 2 out of 10. Down-like fibre is a fine polyester made to imitate the loft of down, so the topper feels plump and cushioned rather than springy. It suits anyone who likes the idea of a feather bed but reacts to feathers or prefers to avoid animal products, and it costs far less than the Dorma goose down topper. Against the 3cm Full Forever it adds more than twice the depth for £30 more in a double. On a mattress that is already soft, though, another 7cm can leave you feeling hemmed in, so it works best on a medium or firm bed.

Seven centimetres of soft fibre adds comfort, not support, and it compresses where you lie most, so shake it out when you change the sheets. Spot cleaning is the only care Dunelm allows. That rules out the hot wash that NHS guidance from Cambridge University Hospitals recommends for bedding if you have a dust mite allergy, so use a washable protector over it.
