The Aspire Advanced Temperature Control 1000 Pocket Spring Dual Sided Mattress gives you two different sleep surfaces on one 1,000-pocket spring unit: a summer side with a carbon fibre cooling fabric over wool, and a winter side with a fabric that turns body moisture into warmth. It is hand tufted in the UK and carries a 5-year warranty. A 4ft6 double costs £467, which makes it the cheapest way into a seasonal flip mattress in Aspire’s range.

Two sides, two jobs

Aspire’s photos make the sides easy to tell apart: blue “temperature control” lettering on the cool face and red on the warm one. The cross-section on Aspire’s product page shows the rest:

Layer Summer side Winter side
Cover Cool Blue tufted panel fabric with carbon fibre Warm red tufted panel fabric
Comfort layer Wool Cashmere blend (250gsm) and traditional fibres
Fibre 800gsm high-loft recycled polyester 800gsm high-loft recycled polyester
Support foam Recycled eco foam Recycled eco foam
Shared core Pocket springs, up to 1,000 per mattress, between recycled felt pads

Aspire says the warm-side fabric captures the moisture your body gives off and converts it into heat, while the cool-side fabric draws heat away as soon as you lie down. Both claims are the manufacturer’s; what is certain is that wool on the summer side breathes well, a point the National Bed Federation makes about the fibre in general. Aspire rates the feel medium-firm in its specification, though one bullet on the page says medium.

Sizes and prices

Size Mattress size (cm) Aspire price
Small single (2ft6) 75 x 190 £294
Single (3ft) 90 x 190 £333
Small double (4ft) 120 x 190 £421
Double (4ft6) 135 x 190 £467
King (5ft) 150 x 200 £524
Super king (6ft) 180 x 200 £824

Prices read on 15 October 2026, with no reductions. The super king is the outlier, £300 more than the king. Compared with Aspire’s 5000 Climate Cool Dual Sided, which costs a good deal more, this model has a single spring layer and no micro springs, so it feels firmer and less layered.

Who it suits

It suits a single sleeper or a couple in a house where the bedroom temperature swings with the seasons, and a buyer who wants natural fillings and a 5-year warranty at a mid-range price. Because there is only one spring layer and no pillowtop, the surface is on the firmer side of medium, which back sleepers will like and lighter side sleepers may not.

Living with it

Turn it over at the change of seasons and rotate it head to foot in between; Aspire’s handles help. There is no sleep trial, and Aspire’s returns policy excludes a mattress with a broken hygiene seal from the 14-day cancellation right unless faulty. The 5-year warranty is pro rata after year one, from 20% to 70% of the retail price for a replacement depending on its age.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“If your bedroom is hot in summer and cold in winter and you want one mattress for both without paying for Aspire's premium dual-sided models, this is the pick. Couples who disagree about temperature will still be sharing one side at a time.”
