The Aspire 5000 Pocket Wool Cashmere and Silk Dual Sided is a traditional two-sided mattress: a core of 1,000 nested pocket springs with 2,000 micro springs and a layer of wool, cashmere and silk on each face, hand tufted right through. You can turn it over as well as rotate it, which is the oldest way of making a natural-filled mattress last. A 4ft6 double is £799.

Why dual-sided matters with natural fillings

Wool and cashmere compress where you lie. On a one-sided mattress that slowly forms body impressions; on a dual-sided one you turn it over and the rested face takes the load while the other recovers. Tufting, which the National Bed Federation describes as tapes passed right through the mattress to stop loose fillings shifting, keeps those layers in place between turns. Aspire’s own photos show the side handles you need for the job.

Layer Each face Centre
Cover Woven damask, hand tufted –
Natural filling Wool, cashmere and silk blend –
Fibre 800gsm high-loft fibre, at least 70% recycled polyester –
Micro springs 2,000 micro tablet pocket springs –
Insulator Recycled felt pad –
Core – 1,000 nested pocket springs, framed edge and side support

That symmetric build, read from the cross-section on Aspire’s product page, is why the mattress feels the same either way up. Aspire rates it medium-firm. With micro springs under each surface it is a little softer on top than a plain pocket mattress, and the framed 1,000-spring core keeps it supportive for back sleepers and couples.

Sizes and prices

Size Mattress size (cm) Aspire price
Small single (2ft6) 75 x 190 £599
Single (3ft) 90 x 190 £599
Small double (4ft) 120 x 190 £799
Double (4ft6) 135 x 190 £799
King (5ft) 150 x 200 £899
Super king (6ft) 180 x 200 £999

Prices read on 15 October 2026, with no reduction on any size. Aspire quotes 10 to 15 working days for delivery of a flat mattress like this, because most are made to order, and delivery to the doorstep is free on the UK mainland. Here the dual-sided build costs real money: Aspire’s 5000 pillowtop, with the same number of springs but only one usable face, cost £339 less in a double on the same day, because the pillowtops sell at a long-standing reduction. You are paying for the second face and the longer life it should give. The 7000 Dual Sided adds 1,000 more micro springs per face for £150 more in a double.

Terms

There is no sleep trial, and a mattress with a broken hygiene seal is excluded from the 14-day cancellation right in Aspire’s returns policy, unless it is faulty. The 5-year guarantee is pro rata after the first year. Turning a well-filled king or super king is a job for two people.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“Buy this if you are happy to turn your mattress and want natural fillings that will last: two usable faces on a framed 1,000-spring core is a proper long-term build. If you never intend to flip it, the 5000 pillowtop gives a similar feel for far less.”
