The Aspire 5000 Pocket Wool Cashmere and Silk Pillowtop adds a second layer of 2,000 micro springs to Aspire’s entry pillowtop, so it has 4,000 small springs over a core of 1,000 nested pocket springs. In a 4ft6 double it costs £460, about £30 more than the 3000 version, which makes the upgrade one of the cheaper ones in Aspire’s range.

Where the extra 2,000 springs go

Aspire’s cross-section on the product page places one layer of 2,000 micro springs inside the pillowtop, like the 3000 model, and a second layer of 2,000 in the main body, just above the full-size springs. That second layer is what you pay for. It sits between the soft pillowtop and the firm core, so the transition from cushioning to support is more gradual, which is noticeable at the hip of a side sleeper.

Layer, top to bottom What Aspire uses
Sleep surface Woven damask, hand tufted
Pillowtop Wool, cashmere and silk blend, cotton and recycled polyester rebound layer, 2,000 micro springs
Comfort fibre 800gsm high-loft fibre, at least 70% recycled polyester
Second spring layer 2,000 micro tablet pocket springs
Main unit 1,000 nested pocket springs with a framed edge, between recycled felt pads
Base 800gsm fibre and woven damask

The headline 5,000 needs the same caution as every number in this range. Only 1,000 springs are full height. The National Bed Federation gives typical pocket spring counts of 600-800 up to 2,500, so the main unit is a solid mid-market core, and the micro springs change how the surface feels rather than how much weight it carries. Aspire rates the mattress medium-firm.

Sizes and prices

Size Mattress size (cm) Aspire price
Small single (2ft6) 75 x 190 £300
Single (3ft) 90 x 190 £340
Small double (4ft) 120 x 190 £410
Double (4ft6) 135 x 190 £460
King (5ft) 150 x 200 £520
Super king (6ft) 180 x 200 £590

Prices read on 15 October 2026. The struck “was” figures on Aspire’s page, £1,199 on the double, have been displayed since at least March 2026 according to an archived copy of the pillowtop range, so the lower price is the one to plan around. Aspire does not publish the depth.

What to know before ordering

Natural fillings compress a little in the first months, and the pillowtop means the mattress cannot be turned over, only rotated. There is no sleep trial, and Aspire’s returns policy excludes a mattress with a broken hygiene seal from the 14-day cancellation right unless it is faulty. The 5-year guarantee is pro rata after year one: a replacement costs 20% of the current retail price in year two, rising to 70% in year five. Delivery is free to the doorstep on the UK mainland, and Aspire quotes 10 to 15 working days for a flat mattress like this one, because most are made to order.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“Pay the small step up from the 3000 pillowtop if you sleep on your side and want a deeper, more layered cushion: the second micro spring layer is the best-value upgrade in Aspire's natural range. Back sleepers on a budget lose little by staying with the 3000.”
