Firmness: Medium firmSlumberland's entry Response Latex model puts graphite-infused latex over 2,750 springs in a firm or extra firm 31.5cm hybrid.
The Slumberland Response Latex 1.0 is a 31.5cm hybrid with a graphite-infused latex top layer over 2,750 pocket springs, and it opens the Response Latex range that Bensons for Beds redesigned for 2026. It is sold in firm and extra firm, for back and front sleepers who want a springy, cool surface.
| Component | What Bensons lists |
|---|---|
| Cover | Deep-quilted stretch knit with Adaptive moisture-wicking and Purotex+ anti-allergen treatments |
| Quilting | Truecomfort fibres, 75% recycled PET |
| Comfort layers | Latex infused with graphite, then a comfort foam layer |
| Upper springs | 1,500 mini pocket springs |
| Main springs | 1,250 full-height nested pocket springs |
| Edge | Dynamic reinforced edge support |
Latex behaves differently from memory foam. It gives under the shoulders and hips and springs back as soon as you move, so you lie on the mattress more than in it. The National Bed Federation’s buying guide calls latex “naturally cooler than traditional foam mattresses”, and Slumberland adds graphite to draw heat away from the surface (Response Latex 1.0 at Bensons). Bensons also states that the Purotex+ fabric treatment is approved by Allergy UK.
We rate the Firm version 7 on our 1 to 10 scale. Back sleepers get level, buoyant support, and the extra firm option suits front sleepers and heavier back sleepers who want less give still. Side sleepers who like the feel of latex should look at the Response Latex 3.0, which adds a plush top and a soft option.
A single costs £679.99 and a double £799.99. Bensons says the Response Latex range is handmade to order in its Kitemark-approved UK factory, and the mattress carries an 8-year guarantee. It is single-sided and only needs rotating head to toe.
Buy the Response Latex 1.0 if you sleep mostly on your back or front, tend to run warm under memory foam and want a mattress that is easy to move on. It costs the same as the Orthopaedic Support Premium in every size, so the choice between the two comes down to the top layer: latex for a lively, cooler feel, or firm foam for a flatter, more solid one. If you want latex with more cushioning, the Response Latex 2.0 adds 500 mini springs and a medium option for a higher price.
