The Air 9.0 is the deepest mattress in Slumberland’s Air Memory range at 34 cm. Its 3,250-spring system pairs 1,250 full-height nested pocket springs with 2,000 mini pocket springs, and it carries the same 60 mm of seven-zone Sensaform memory foam as the Air 6.0, with breathable air channels cut through it.

Bensons offers it in Medium, Firm and Extra Firm, so unlike the Air 6.0 there is no soft version. We describe the Medium option and rate it 5 on our scale. The extra mini springs give a more buoyant surface and better motion isolation than the cheaper models, which suits couples and heavier sleepers who want contouring without feeling stuck in the foam.

Cooling works the same way as across the range: channelled foam, a cool-touch cover and Truecomfort fillings made from 75% recycled PET. The edges are reinforced, the fabric has a Pro-bio treatment against dust mites, and the mattress is single-sided with flag-stitched handles for rotation.

It costs £679.99 for a single and £1,079.99 for a super king at Bensons. It is made in the UK and carries an 8-year manufacturer’s guarantee. Check that your fitted sheets are deep enough for 34 cm before you order.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Air 9.0 makes sense if you want the most supportive Air model or share the bed with a heavier partner. For most side sleepers the Air 6.0 feels similar for noticeably less money.”
