The Air 2.0 is the starting point of Slumberland’s Air Memory range, made in the UK and sold exclusively through Bensons for Beds. It is 29 cm deep and built around 1,250 full-height pocket springs laid in a nested, staggered pattern, which Slumberland says gives 20% more support than a standard pocket unit. On top sits a 40 mm layer of Sensaform memory foam, zoned into seven areas and cut with air channels.

Bensons sells it in Medium and Firm. We describe the Medium version here and rate it 5 on our 1 to 10 scale: the memory foam softens the first contact at the shoulders and hips, while the dense spring layout keeps the spine level. Back and side sleepers of average weight fit it best, and the Firm option suits heavier back sleepers and stomach sleepers.

Slumberland claims the channelled foam breathes five times better than standard memory foam, and a cool-touch cover and quilted Truecomfort fillings, made from 75% recycled PET, help as well. It will still hold more heat than a traditional spring mattress with natural fillings, the usual trade-off of a memory foam top. The fabric has a Pro-bio treatment against bacteria and dust mites, and the edges are reinforced to reduce roll-off.

The regular price starts at £449.99 for a single and runs to £949.99 for a super king. It is single-sided with flag-stitched handles for rotation and carries an 8-year manufacturer’s guarantee. Bensons adds a 40-night comfort guarantee that allows an exchange, with charges, after at least five nights.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Air 2.0 gives you Slumberland's zoned memory foam and nested springs at the lowest price in the range, which makes it a sensible first pocket and foam mattress. If you want more cushioning, the Air 6.0 adds mini springs and a thicker foam layer for a moderate step up.”
