Starlight Beds Starlight 07 All-Foam Mattress reviewed

The Starlight Beds Starlight 07 is a spring-free foam mattress about 20cm deep, with an inch of memory foam over a 7-inch firm foam base. Starlight makes it in the UK and sells it direct from starlightbeds.co.uk, vacuum packed, rolled and boxed.

Two layers, nothing else

The construction is simple. A 7-inch (about 18cm) firm foam base does the supporting, and a 1-inch (about 2.5cm) memory foam layer on top moulds to the back, shoulders and hips. A grey border with a blue band, and turning handles, finish it. With no springs inside, a partner’s movement is absorbed rather than passed across the bed, which makes it a quiet choice for light sleepers.

Feel

Starlight lists the comfort as medium, and we place it at 5 out of 10. The firm base keeps your spine supported, but an inch of memory foam is a thin comfort layer. Back sleepers and children will find it supportive enough. Side sleepers, particularly heavier ones, are likely to press through the memory foam into the firm base and feel it at the shoulder.

Memory foam also holds heat. The National Bed Federation explains that its closed-cell structure makes it less breathable and a bit warmer to sleep on than latex, and with no springs to move air through the core, warm sleepers may notice it.

The shorty, at 175cm long, fits cabin beds and some children’s frames that a standard single will not. There is no super king.

Against Starlight’s other foam mattresses

For not much more, the Starlight Harmony 3-Layer Cooling Foam Mattress adds a layer of cooling memory foam and a reflex foam layer, and costs £246.99 in a double against £209.99 for the 07. If budget is the only thing that matters, the Starlight Virgo puts a memory foam layer on open coil springs for well under half the price, at £99.99 in a double.

Delivery, returns and care

Starlight delivers free to most of the UK mainland, and in October 2026 it quoted delivery within about a week. It offers no sleep trial: you can cancel within 14 days only if the mattress is unused and still in its original packaging, and you pay for the return. No guarantee period appears on the product page. Once unrolled, give it time to recover its full shape before judging the feel, and use the handles to rotate it head to toe regularly.
