Sealy Elevate UltraLux Anniversary Medium reviewed

The Sealy Elevate UltraLux Anniversary Medium is a 32cm Posturepedic mattress with a second layer of micro coils, called ComfortBridge, in the centre third above the main AlignSupport coil unit. It is the medium-feel model of Sealy’s three-model Elevate UltraLux collection and carries the 7-year Posturepedic guarantee.

Price and availability

Sealy sells through retailers and publishes no price. M6 Beds lists the Anniversary Medium with a delivery time of 4 to 6 weeks but asks you to email or call for the price. Bridge Bedding Centre sells the single, double, king and zip-and-link super king on the same call-for-price basis. For budgeting, the 18th National Bed Federation consumer survey puts the mean price paid for a new mattress at £543, and Sealy’s Elevate Ultra models already list at well over £1,500 in a single.

Who it suits

Sealy calls the feel medium and describes the deep luxe top as gently cushioned; we rate it 5 out of 10. The extra coil layer under the lower back is the reason to choose it over the Hawking Medium, especially for back sleepers and couples of different weights. A medium feel is also what the evidence favours: a 2021 systematic review of 39 studies in the Journal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology found medium-firm mattresses best for comfort, sleep quality and spinal alignment.

Sealy states that ProShield is endorsed by Allergy UK, but the Elevate UltraLux collection is not named on the Allergy UK product listing for Sealy, so we do not show the seal on this model. The mattress is single sided and needs rotating rather than turning; the National Bed Federation’s Bed Advice care guide suggests weekly rotation for the first three months.

Firm and plush versions

Sealy also makes the Anniversary in Firm and Plush versions on the same UltraLux base (the Plush is deeper, at 34cm), so a couple who like the construction but not the medium feel can stay within the model. Whichever version you choose, a guarantee claim goes through the retailer first, and Sealy allows a tolerance of plus or minus 2cm on the stated dimensions because every mattress is made by hand.
