The Raymat 100% Natural Bamboo Mattress Topper is a quilted fibre topper with a bamboo fibre filling, a 400 thread count Egyptian cotton cover and 5cm side walls, sold by Raymat Textiles from £152.61 for a single with free UK delivery. Its job is to soften a firm mattress with a layer you can wash at home, not to prop up a sagging one.

Construction and materials

Raymat’s product page describes a bamboo fibre filling inside a 400 thread count Egyptian cotton cover, 5cm side walls to spread the fill to the edges and elastic corner straps, and the photos show a box-quilted surface. Raymat does not publish a fill weight. Kensingtons Bedding, which trades from the same Bridgefield Street address in Radcliffe, gives 1,200g for an identically described topper, but Raymat does not confirm it, so we have not carried that figure across.

The “100% natural” name needs a caveat. Bamboo fibre used in bedding is a regenerated cellulose fibre, and bamboo is not among the permitted fibre names in Annex I of the textile labelling regulation, which lists viscose, modal and lyocell instead. The Trading Standards guidance on textile labelling confirms that this annex still governs fibre labels in Great Britain. Expect the care label to say viscose or a viscose blend. The page also shows an OEKO-TEX Standard 100 badge, but it sits in a tab shared across Raymat’s range, next to a down quality claim that cannot apply to a bamboo topper, and no certificate number is given, so we do not list the topper as certified.

Prices by size

Size Mattress size (cm) Raymat price Kensingtons price, same specification
Single 90 x 190 £152.61 £280
Double 135 x 190 £213.65 £346.50
King 150 x 200 £244.18 £416.50
Super king 180 x 200 £280.80 £437.85

Raymat prints a struck-through price beside every size, from £400 for the single to £695 for the super king, and gives no end date for the reduction, so we list the lower figure as the price you actually pay. On that basis the Raymat topper was cheaper than the Kensingtons listing in all four sizes when we checked on 28 September 2026, by more than £100 on the single alone.

Feel, washing and returns

We rate it soft, about 3 out of 10. Unlike memory foam, a fibre filling does not recover its height on its own, so give it a shake when you change the sheets.

Raymat’s care tab gives a 40°C wash and drying on a medium heat setting. For a dust mite allergy that is on the cool side, since the NHS advice for allergic rhinitis is synthetic bedding washed regularly at 60°C and above. Cambridge University Hospitals notes that a cooler wash only partly kills mites, which makes an allergy cover over the topper the more useful purchase if mites are your reason for buying. Returns are accepted within 30 days if the topper is unused, unwashed and in its original packaging. There is no sleep trial and no stated guarantee.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“Raymat is the better place to buy this 5cm bamboo fibre design, because it costs less here than the identically described Kensingtons version in every size. Buy it to soften a firm mattress with something you can wash at home; skip it if you need support or a certified product.”
