Luff Prestige Bamboo Mattress Topper reviewed

The Luff Prestige Bamboo Mattress Topper is a 5cm gel-infused memory foam topper with a removable bamboo cover, a mesh base and four corner straps, at a regular price of £129.99 for a single. It comes with a 100-night trial and a five-year warranty. The bamboo is in the cover, not the core, so this is a memory foam topper first.

Construction

These details come from the Luff product page, which rates the topper medium firmness. Luff gives no foam density. The foam arrives compressed and takes 4 to 72 hours to expand fully, so it is best unpacked in the morning. Luff says its FSC-certified bamboo products are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified but quotes no certificate number on the page. A STANDARD 100 label means, according to OEKO-TEX, that every component has been tested against a list of over 1,000 harmful substances, and the label number can be checked on the OEKO-TEX website.

Sizes and prices

Luff lists its king at 152 x 200cm and its super king at 182 x 200cm, 2cm wider than the standard UK sizes. The sale prices carried a “Save 23%” label with no end date. The regular prices match what Luff charged without any discount in 2025, according to the Internet Archive copy of the page from August 2025. Delivery is free across the UK.

Memory foam, heat and who it suits

Memory foam reacts to body heat and moulds to your shape, and it can feel warmer to lie on. Luff’s answer is the gel infusion, the perforations and the mesh base, although it publishes no temperature data. Foam type does seem to matter. A small crossover study in PLoS One (Chiba et al., 2018), sponsored by the topper maker airweave, found that the core body temperature of 30 men fell further early in the night on a high-rebound topper than on a low-rebound memory foam topper, alongside more deep sleep. The Luff is a low-rebound foam topper, so if you sleep hot, use the trial to find out.

The 100-night trial lets you return the topper for any reason. According to Luff’s terms of sale, Luff Sleep is the trading name of Mello Sleep Ltd, registered in England and Wales with an office in the City of London. Luff says it gives 10% of its profits to homeless charities. The Prestige suits a mattress that feels too firm but is still sound, and side sleepers who want pressure relief at the shoulders and hips. It is not the choice for a warm sleeper who dislikes the enveloping feel of memory foam.
