Panda Bamboo Mattress Topper reviewed

The Panda Bamboo Mattress Topper is a 5cm memory foam topper made of HydroFoam, Panda’s gel-infused memory foam, in a zip-off cover of 70% bamboo fibre and 30% polyester. It costs £99.95 for a UK single and £139.95 for a UK double at the time of writing (September 2026), and Panda backs it with a 30-night trial and a 10-year guarantee.

Certificates

Panda quotes OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certificate SH025 177569, which OEKO-TEX’s Label Check lists as valid (checked 28 September 2026): a product class I certificate, the strictest of the four classes, held by the textile maker Nantong Fengsheng Textile Co. in Jiangsu, China, for knitted bamboo-viscose pillow and mattress topper fabrics. Panda also says the foam is CertiPUR-certified and low in VOCs; CertiPUR requires foam samples to pass independent laboratory tests for heavy metals, banned dyes and VOC emissions, with yearly control tests. Panda states compliance with BS 7177, the British ignition-resistance standard for mattresses and mattress pads.

Who it suits

Panda’s own guidance is that the topper is for side sleepers and anyone whose mattress feels too hard, and that strict front sleepers may find their lower back dips too much. It also says, fairly, that a topper cannot fix a mattress with a deep dip or broken springs, because the foam follows the sag. Gel capsules reduce but do not remove the warmth of memory foam, and Panda concedes that people with severe night sweats may find it warmer than wool or cotton. On mattresses deeper than 30cm the corner straps can be a tight fit, according to Panda, though the anti-slip base still holds it.
