Fogarty Quick Dry Mattress Topper reviewed

The Fogarty Quick Dry Mattress Topper is a 3cm polyester spiral fibre topper that adds a light, springy layer to a mattress and can be washed and tumble dried at home. It used to be sold as the Fogarty Perfectly Washable, a name that survives in the web address of its Dunelm product page, where it averaged 4.7 stars from 163 reviews at the time of writing (September 2026).

Construction

Filling and cover are both 100% polyester. The filling is spiral fibre, which Dunelm says keeps its bouncy structure, and elasticated corners hold the topper in place. A sustainability note on the page adds that the polyester is certified recycled material made from waste such as plastic bottles and manufacturing off-cuts. Dunelm’s size options give a 3cm depth. The dimensions table on the page lists only single, double and king, but a super king is on sale too.

Washing

Washability is the point of this topper. Plenty of toppers can only be spot cleaned, but Dunelm lists the Quick Dry as machine washable and safe to tumble dry on a low heat, in line with its name. Being fully synthetic, it also fits NHS advice for people with allergic rhinitis to use synthetic bedding and wash it regularly at 60C and above. Dunelm does not state a maximum temperature on the page, so check the sewn-in label first.

Who it suits

We rate the Quick Dry soft, 3 out of 10. It suits anyone who wants a fresher, slightly softer sleeping surface, including guest beds and children’s beds that need frequent washing. It is a poor fix for a hard mattress or for pressure pain at the hip, since 3cm leaves little material to spread the load, and the Dunelm Rebound in the same shop is 5cm deep for a similar price, £45 in a double against £40 for the Quick Dry. There is no stated guarantee or sleep trial, and Dunelm accepts change-of-mind returns only on unused items within 28 days.
