Fogarty Memory Foam Mattress Topper reviewed

The Fogarty Memory Foam Mattress Topper is a 4cm layer of convoluted visco-elastic memory foam in a polyester cover, made to soften a firm mattress for less than most memory foam toppers cost. Fogarty is a Dunelm-owned brand, so the topper is sold only through Dunelm, where it averaged 4.6 stars from 332 reviews on its product page at the time of writing (September 2026).

Construction

The foam has a convoluted, egg-box cut, which Fogarty says targets support at pressure points. Extra-deep elasticated corner straps hold it on the mattress, and the cover is 100% polyester. The listing is inconsistent on care, because the bullet points say sponge clean while the care field and the description call the outer cover machine washable. Treat the foam itself as sponge clean only. It is sold in single, double, king and super king, with no small double.

Fogarty or Dunelm memory foam?

The Fogarty is the cheaper of the two in every size. The Dunelm topper is 1.7cm deeper and comes with a two-year guarantee.

Who it suits

Memory foam softens with warmth and pressure and recovers slowly. Charles Kubokawa, who worked on the original “temper foam” as a human factors engineer at NASA’s Ames Research Center, told NASA Spinoff that once you stood up, “the foam would revert back to its original form with nothing on it”. That slow give spreads pressure at the shoulder and hip. At 4cm the effect is moderate, which suits a mattress that is only slightly too firm. Limits

Solid memory foam holds body heat, and this topper has no gel or ventilation, so the Dunelm Gel Fusion is the cooler choice. No guarantee is stated on the listing, there is no sleep trial, and Dunelm’s change-of-mind policy covers only unused items within 28 days.
