The Brook + Wilde Lux is a 26 cm pocket sprung hybrid with 1,000 encapsulated springs under two zoned foam layers, made in Manchester and sold direct online. It is the entry model in the Brook + Wilde range and comes in one feel only, medium, in Single, Double and King. Brook + Wilde says it has re-engineered the Lux and now manufactures it in Manchester, according to the Brook + Wilde Lux product page.

Five layers

Brook + Wilde lists five layers and says all of them are sourced from UK suppliers. The two foam layers form what the brand calls S-Wave, a four-zone profile that supports the neck, softens under the shoulders, holds the hips and turns slightly firmer at the foot end.

Layer Component What Brook + Wilde says it does
1 Knitted Brook + Wilde Sleep cover Soft sleep surface
2 S-Wave foam, comfort layer 1 Zoned for neck, shoulders, hips and legs
3 S-Wave foam, comfort layer 2 Slightly firmer at the foot end
4 1,000 encapsulated pocket springs Main support unit
5 ECO-TEX base Recycled material made in-house

ECO-TEX here is Brook + Wilde’s own name for its recycled base material. It is not the OEKO-TEX textile certification, and the Lux carries no third-party certification on its product page.

Feel and who it suits

The Lux is only made in medium, which Brook + Wilde’s trial terms state explicitly. A medium feel is a safe default rather than a compromise. A randomised trial of 313 adults with chronic low back pain, published in The Lancet by Kovacs and colleagues in 2003, found that people on medium-firm mattresses had less pain in bed and on rising after 90 days than those on firm ones. With 1,000 springs and zoned foam on top, the Lux suits side and back sleepers of average build best. Front sleepers and heavier sleepers who want a firmer surface should look at the Elite, which is sold in a firm version.

Sizes, prices and terms

These are Brook + Wilde’s regular prices at the time of writing (September 2026), with free delivery on every size.

UK size Dimensions (cm) Price
Single 90x190 £595
Double 135x190 £795
King 150x200 £895

Delivery is by a two-person team within five weeks, or by Express delivery within 10 days, an option only the Lux offers. The 200 Night Comfort Trial allows an exchange or a full refund, provided you use a mattress protector, and Brook + Wilde asks you to sleep on it for at least 30 nights first. Because the Lux has no firmer or softer version, a comfort exchange means moving to a dearer model and paying the difference.

The mattress core carries a 10-year guarantee. The Brook + Wilde guarantee page publishes a settlement tolerance chart, from 2.5 cm for a mattress up to six months old to 4.5 cm at three to five years, and excludes normal wear and changes in hardness. The same page states that its mattress covers are not cleanable, and Brook + Wilde sells a replacement Lux cover separately. The company behind the brand, Brook & Wilde Sleep Limited, is listed at Companies House with a registered office in Oldham.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Brook + Wilde Lux suits side and back sleepers who want a UK-made pocket sprung hybrid and a 200-night trial that allows a refund, not just an exchange. Skip it if you need a firm or soft feel, because the Lux comes in medium only and an exchange means paying the difference for a dearer model.”
