The Aspire Essentials Memory Foam is a 15cm all-foam mattress made in the UK, under a zip-off cover that you can take off and wash, sewn from OEKO-TEX fabric. A 4ft6 double costs £202 on Aspire’s own shop, which makes it one of the cheapest ways to get a fully synthetic mattress with a washable cover.

What is inside

Aspire’s product page and its layer diagram list three parts. A 2.5cm layer of memory foam sits under the cover, which Aspire describes as anti-bacterial and hypo-allergenic, and a recycled Ecofoam block does the supporting below it. Aspire says the 15cm version is made from 83% recycled foam by volume. A 10cm version with the same memory foam layer is sold on the same page for bunk and cabin beds; this review covers the 15cm.

Part What Aspire states
Cover Zip-off, removable and washable, OEKO-TEX fabric
Comfort layer 2.5cm memory foam
Support Recycled Ecofoam base
Total depth 15cm
Recycled content 83% of the foam by volume

Why the cover matters if you have allergies

House dust mites live in bedding, and the NHS advice on allergic rhinitis tells people with a dust mite allergy to use synthetic bedding and covers and to wash bedding regularly at 60C or above. The Essentials fits that advice better than most mattresses at its price: Aspire lists no wool, feather or latex, and the cover comes off in one piece. Aspire does not print a washing temperature for the cover, so read the care label before you put it on a hot cycle.

The OEKO-TEX claim covers the fabric. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 tests textiles for harmful substances, which is reassuring for skin contact, but it is not an allergen or dust mite test.

Feel and who it suits

Aspire rates it medium. The memory foam softens the surface, and the foam base keeps it even, with no springs to transfer movement across the bed. At 15cm it is a slim mattress, so heavier adults and side sleepers with broad shoulders may press through to the firmer base. It suits lighter adults, a teenager’s room or a spare bed, and anyone whose priority is a clean, washable surface at a low price. It arrives rolled and needs 4 to 6 hours to expand.

Sizes and prices

Aspire sells the 15cm Essentials in five UK sizes, with free delivery to the UK mainland. These were the prices on Aspire’s shop on 14 October 2026; there is no super king.

Size Mattress (cm) Aspire price
Small single (2ft6) 75 x 190 £152
Single (3ft) 90 x 190 £155
Small double (4ft) 120 x 190 £192
Double (4ft6) 135 x 190 £202
King (5ft) 150 x 200 £232

Returns and warranty

The product page lists a 5-year warranty. There is no sleep trial: Aspire’s returns policy gives you 14 days to cancel, but it excludes mattresses whose hygiene seal has been broken unless they are faulty.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“Buy the Aspire Essentials if you want an all-foam mattress whose cover you can strip and wash, at a price that leaves money for an allergen-proof encasement. At 15cm it is slim, so heavier adults and side sleepers who want deep cushioning should choose a 20cm or deeper mattress.”
