“Price the bed in the size you will actually buy and find out whether the saving sits on the frame or on a bundle you never needed. A percentage on its own tells you nothing.”
Check the reference price, not the percentage
Which?’s November 2025 study tracked 175 products from eight retailers for a year around Black Friday 2024 and found that 83% were the same price or cheaper at least once outside the four-week sale period. Note the double price of the bed you want today and compare it with the price on the day. The prices in the table below are the ones we recorded on 26 October 2026, and a “was” figure you never saw the retailer charge is not a reference.
Compare like with like in a double
Bed prices hide in the options. A headboard, a fabric, drawers or a mattress can move the price of the same frame by hundreds of pounds, and an “up to 50% off” banner often describes the best-discounted size or colour. The Emma Box Bed, for example, costs about £186 more in a double with its headboard than without. Check the mattress size the frame expects too: a UK double frame is built for a 135x190 mattress, so a continental 140x200 mattress will not fit.
Bed and mattress bundles
Two picks include a mattress, the Laybrook Corfe adjustable bed and the Silentnight ThermaCool divan set. Emma’s offer works the other way round, with free extras when you buy a bed and an Emma mattress together. A bundle saves money only if you needed every piece, and a bundled mattress can be thinner than one you would choose on its own, so compare its depth. If your mattress is still supportive, the frame alone is the better buy; our Black Friday mattress guide covers the mattress deals, and our bedding deals guide covers duvets and linen.
Returns, made-to-order beds and VAT
An online order comes with a cancellation period that, under regulation 30 of the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, ends 14 days after the day the goods come into your possession. Regulation 28 excludes “the supply of goods that are made to the consumer’s specifications or are clearly personalised”, which can catch an upholstered bed made in a fabric you chose, so read the retailer’s terms before ordering a custom colour.
Adjustable beds have a saving of their own. Under section 4.3 of HMRC VAT Notice 701/7, an electrically or mechanically adjustable bed designed for people with disabilities can be zero-rated when a chronically sick or disabled person buys it for personal use and signs a declaration. That takes about a sixth off the price, and Laybrook shows its prices both with and without VAT.
Timing and delivery
Black Friday 2026 is on Friday 27 November and Cyber Monday on 30 November. Delivery times vary far more than prices. Stock frames can arrive within a week, while upholstered and made-to-order beds take two weeks or more. If the bed has to be up for Christmas guests, choose a stock item and confirm the delivery date at checkout before you pay. The frames arrive flat-packed for self-assembly, while the Silentnight divan set and the Laybrook bed are assembled or installed for you.
