The fabric

Tencel is a brand of lyocell, a fibre spun from wood pulp. It absorbs and releases moisture well, which is why it is popular with people who sleep hot. Simba weaves it in a simple one-over-one-under pattern at 200 thread count and then brushes the surface, giving a matte, almost velvety finish that is soft without being fluffy and resists creasing. The fabric is certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, the label for textiles tested against more than 1,000 harmful substances, and it is cut and sewn by the Costa family in Guimarães, Portugal, using natural dyes.

The brushed finish feels matte and soft, closer to peach skin than to crisp cotton, and the fabric resists creasing, so it can go from dryer to bed without ironing. The cover fastens with coconut shell buttons. The covers are cut to the same four sizes as Simba’s own duvets, so a Simba Hybrid Duvet fills them edge to edge.

Sizes and prices

Size Duvet cover size (cm, W x L) Price
Single 135 x 200 £129
Double 200 x 200 £139
King 225 x 220 £149
Super king 260 x 220 £159

Prices are for the regular colours on simbasleep.com, checked on 15 October 2026. A double cover and pillowcase pair bought separately would cost £144, £5 more than the set. Light Cappuccino and Dusty Rose were on clearance at much lower prices. Delivery is free and next day for orders before 1pm.

Washing and care

Simba advises washing with similar colours and a low tumble dry with wool dryer balls. A cool, gentle cycle keeps the brushed surface soft for longer, and the fabric comes out of the dryer almost free of creases, so there is no need to iron it. Washing the cover and pillowcases together keeps their colours matched as they age.

Who it suits

Pick this set if night sweats or warm nights are the problem: lyocell takes up moisture and lets it go, and the NHS sleep advice stresses how much a cool, comfortable room helps sleep. It also suits anyone who hates ironing. The brushed surface is less crisp than cotton, which some people miss. Simba’s returns page gives 30 days to return unused bedding.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Brushed Tencel Bedding Set is our pick for hot or sweaty sleepers, and it needs no ironing. Choose percale if you prefer a crisp, papery cotton feel.”
