Dunlopillo Sovereign
8.1/10The Dunlopillo Sovereign is a medium-feel latex mattress with a Talalay comfort layer over…
Firmness: MediumThe Dunlopillo Kareena pairs 75 mm of Dunlopillo latex with 1,500 pocket springs, a medium hybrid that suits couples.
The Dunlopillo Kareena is a medium latex hybrid that puts a 75 mm layer of Dunlopillo latex over 1,500 individual pocket springs in a king size, behind a wool-quilted cover. It is the deeper of the two models in Dunlopillo’s Pure collection, around 33 cm in total, and it costs from £779 for a single at MattressNextDay. We rate it the best Dunlopillo for couples, because the springs keep one partner’s movement from reaching the other while the latex cushions shoulders and hips.
According to Dunlopillo’s Kareena spec sheet, the mattress has a quilted sleep surface, a sumptuous layer of Dunlopillo latex, a deep base layer and 1,500 pocket springs in a 150x200 cm king, with Edgetech springs along both sides and three rows of side stitching. The latex depth of 75 mm comes from Mattress Online’s listing; the Meya beneath it in the range has 50 mm.
Two details matter in daily use. The Edgetech springs stiffen the outer edge, so the full width of the mattress is usable and sitting on the side to put on socks does not leave you sliding off. The construction is also glue-free, and the Kareena only needs rotating head to toe, never flipping.
| Size | Dimensions (cm) | MattressNextDay price | Lead time (October 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single | 90 x 190 | £779 | 5 to 6 weeks |
| Double | 135 x 190 | £1,199 | 1 to 2 weeks |
| King | 150 x 200 | £1,199 | In stock |
| Super king | 180 x 200 | £1,329 | 5 to 6 weeks |
A double and a king cost the same at MattressNextDay, so a couple choosing between the two sizes gets the extra 15 cm of width and 10 cm of length for nothing. Mattress Online also stocks the Kareena at higher prices.
MattressNextDay calls the feel medium and Mattress Online medium to firm; we record it as 5 out of 10. The thick latex layer lets a side sleeper’s shoulder settle in, and the springs underneath keep a back sleeper’s lower back supported. Heavier front sleepers may want the firmer Meya or the Firmrest.
Latex rebounds as soon as you move, so it does not hold the imprint of your body the way memory foam does, and turning over takes less effort. If you have a latex allergy, note that the NHS names latex as a common allergy trigger, whatever the maker says about its anti-allergenic properties.
The Kareena has a 10-year guarantee against manufacturing faults. It is made in the UK, and Dunlopillo’s UK range is built by Relyon Beds Ltd, a member of the National Bed Federation, whose code of practice its approved manufacturers are audited against. Dunlopillo offers no sleep trial, so lie on one in a showroom if you can before ordering.
