Soak&Sleep Soft As Down Mattress Topper reviewed

The Soak&Sleep Soft As Down Mattress Topper is a quilted hollowfibre topper sold in 2.5cm and 5cm depths, OEKO-TEX certified and available in seven sizes up to emperor. It is the brand’s cheapest topper and its synthetic answer to feather and down, built to make a mattress feel softer rather than more supportive.

What it is made of

According to the product page, the filling is 100% hollowfibre, a fine crimped polyester laid in carded layers, inside a 100% polyester microfibre casing with a peachskin finish. The quilting holds the fill in place and elastic straps hold the topper on the mattress. Soak&Sleep rates the firmness as soft and adds a disclaimer that the filling “may settle or compress over time”, which is why it recommends shaking the topper out whenever you change the sheets. It was designed in the UK and is made in China.

Two depths, seven sizes

Prices were checked on soakandsleep.com in September 2026, when only the 5cm single was out of stock. The 2.5cm depth is a light softening layer; the 5cm is the one to choose if a mattress feels hard on the shoulders.

Either depth softens a firm mattress cheaply. Hollowfibre adds no support, though, so neither will rescue a mattress that has started to dip.

Certification and allergies

The technical table lists OEKO-TEX certification. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 tests every component against more than 1,000 harmful substances, with limits reviewed at least once a year. For dust-mite allergy, the NHS advice on allergic rhinitis is to use synthetic bedding and wash it regularly at 60°C or above. The Soft As Down is synthetic, but its label allows only 30°C, and Soak&Sleep recommends a professional wash because of the size.

Guarantee and returns

The technical table gives a two-year guarantee while the FAQ on the same page says three years; we record the two years in the specification. There is no sleep trial on toppers, but unused items can be returned within 365 days under the returns policy.
