Aspire Kids Foam Eco Memory Mattress 15cm
7.2/10A 15cm foam mattress for children's beds, bunks and high sleepers, with memory foam…
Firmness: MediumA two-sided 28cm mattress for growing children, softer on one side and firmer on the other, from age 11 into adulthood.
The Slumberland Flip 2 in 1 is a 28cm two-sided mattress for growing children and teenagers. One side is soft to medium, the other medium to firm, and you turn it over as your child grows. Bensons for Beds sells it in single, small double and double.
| Side | Feel | Who it is for, per Bensons |
|---|---|---|
| Softer side | Soft to medium | Ages 11 to 14, or up to 55kg |
| Firmer side | Medium to firm, with an extra foundation layer | Ages 15 to 19, or over 55kg |
Bensons advises turning the mattress once your teenager reaches 15 or 55kg, whichever comes first (Flip 2 in 1 at Bensons). The trick is a variable geometry spring unit that responds differently to weight on each face, topped with a Truecomfort layer of 75% recycled PET and high resilience foam, with a New Life foundation layer of 91% recycled fibres adding support on the firmer side. Four firmer rows of springs run along each edge, because teenagers tend to sit on the side of the bed to game or chat.
We rate the firmer side 6 on our 1 to 10 scale. Starting on the softer side suits a child moving up from a first bed, and the firmer side gives a taller, heavier body the support it needs into adulthood. Length is the other thing to watch: the National Bed Federation’s advice on choosing a bed is that a bed should be 10 to 15cm longer than the tallest person sleeping in it, so a teenager heading past 1.75m may outgrow a 190cm single before the mattress wears out.
A single costs £399.99 and a double £499.99. Bensons lists the Flip as a Good Housekeeping Institute award winner for 2024; it is Kitemark accredited, made in the UK and covered by an 8-year guarantee.
The Flip suits families buying one mattress for a child aged 11 to 14 who will keep it through their teens. A small double or double gives a teenager more width, though every size is 190cm long. It is not an adult mattress in the usual sense: the foam and spring build is simpler than the Air or Naturals models, and there are no king or super king sizes.

“The Flip is a sensible buy for an 11 to 14 year old who will keep the same mattress into their late teens, because the second side saves buying a firmer mattress later. Adults should choose one of the Air or Naturals models.”Go to shop →
