The Silentnight Ultimate Luxury Hungarian Goose Feather and Down Mattress Topper is a feather and down topper with a natural percale cotton cover, crafted in the UK and sold in double, king and super king from £135 at its regular price. It is the only natural-filled topper in Silentnight’s range.

Goose or duck?

The product name and packaging say Hungarian goose feather and down, but the specification on the Silentnight product page lists the filling as duck feather and down. We have not been able to confirm which is correct, so treat the filling as feather and down of unconfirmed origin until Silentnight clarifies.

What RDS certification means

Silentnight says all its feathers are responsibly sourced and RDS certified. The Responsible Down Standard, run by Textile Exchange, prohibits live plucking and force-feeding and requires a chain of custody that follows certified down through the supply chain. That is a meaningful welfare standard, and it is the reason we list RDS on this record.

Feel and who it suits

Feather and down toppers feel soft and plush rather than contouring, and we rate this one soft, 3 out of 10. Silentnight says the natural filling is breathable and temperature regulating. Like any feather filling it needs shaking out now and then, and it is not a choice for people with a feather allergy.

These are regular prices, checked in September 2026. At the time of writing Silentnight had it on an autumn offer from £120, with no end date stated. Delivery takes 2 to 3 working days and the topper has a 2-year guarantee.

Care

Machine washing up to 40°C is convenient, but a feather topper is bulky, so check that your drum is large enough and dry it thoroughly, as damp feathers clump. Airing it regularly and shaking it out after washing keeps the filling evenly spread. The cotton percale cover is the main thing between you and the quills, so use a mattress protector or fitted sheet over it rather than sleeping on it directly.

Feather or fibre?

Against Silentnight’s own hollowfibre toppers, this one costs more but offers a natural, breathable filling; against memory foam, it gives softness rather than contouring support.
