John Lewis EasyCare Mattress Topper im Test

The John Lewis EasyCare Mattress Topper is the cheapest John Lewis own-brand topper sold in all four main UK sizes, a washable polyester pad with a soft polyester front and a polypropylene reverse. It is the budget pick in our John Lewis mattress topper ranking.

Construction

The John Lewis product page lists 100% polyester filling and China as the country of origin, and says the soft cover gives a comfy feel while the base layer provides additional support. It carries a Global Recycled Standard certified product claim. A double weighs 1.4kg, so it is light enough to take off and wash without a struggle. Its band fits mattresses up to 42cm deep, the deepest fit in the John Lewis topper range, which makes it one of the few that will stay put on a deep pillow-top or hybrid mattress.

Washing and care

It can be machine washed at 40°C and tumble dried on a low setting, but must not be ironed or dry cleaned. John Lewis advises against using it with an electric blanket. The 40°C wash refreshes it but will not kill dust mites, which Allergy UK says takes 60°C or above, so allergy sufferers should still use an allergen-proof mattress cover.

Guarantee

John Lewis lists no guarantee for this topper, unlike the two years on most of its own-brand range and the five years on its Duck Feather and Down Dual Layer. At this price that is a fair trade, but it is worth knowing.

Sizes and prices

Like every John Lewis topper, it can only be returned unopened, unused and with its seals intact unless it is faulty, and there is no sleep trial. Standard delivery was free on orders over £50 (£4.50 below that) and Click and Collect free over £40 when we checked in October 2026.

Who it suits

It suits a guest bed, a student room or anyone who wants a soft, washable layer on a deep mattress for little money. It adds comfort rather than support, so it changes the feel of a firm mattress less than a 5cm topper does, and it will not hide a mattress that has started to sag.
