The IKEA Näsfjället is a 4 cm standard foam mattress pad and the middle step of IKEA’s UK range, deeper than the 2.5 cm Nopakte and cheaper than the high-resilience Nisseholm. Its filling is polyurethane foam at 33 kg per cubic metre, the same density as the Nopakte, wrapped in a woven recycled-polyester cover with added wadding (IKEA product page).

What 33 kg/m³ foam means

Density is the weight of the foam per cubic metre. In our assessment it is the most useful single clue to how long a foam layer keeps its shape, and 33 kg is an entry-level figure. IKEA’s memory foam Nordberget uses 50 kg. Expect the Näsfjället to soften and take a body impression sooner than the denser pad, which is fine on a guest bed and less so on a bed used every night.

Care

The cover is double-sided, zips off and washes at up to 60°C, and IKEA recommends line drying. The NHS lists washing bedding at 60°C or above among the steps that help with house dust mite allergy (NHS), so a cover that takes that temperature is useful if dust makes you sneeze.

Sizes and prices

IKEA size Dimensions (cm) Price
Single 90x190 £49
Double 135x190 £59
King 150x200 £79

IKEA does not sell the Näsfjället in super king. There is no sleep trial and no stated guarantee; the IKEA return policy gives you 365 days, with opened items refunded to a refund card.

Who it suits

Buy the Näsfjället to soften a new mattress that turned out firmer than you hoped, or to freshen up a spare bed without spending much. For an everyday bed and aching shoulders, the extra density of the Nordberget is worth the difference.

Unser Urteil

Fazit
„The Näsfjället is a sensible, low-cost way to take the edge off a firm mattress in a guest room or a first flat. On a bed you sleep on every night, the denser Nordberget or the deeper Nisseholm will feel better for longer.“
