Hi-Gear High Rise Flock King Size Airbed reviewed

The Hi-Gear High Rise Flock King Size Airbed is a 56cm raised air bed with a built-in mains pump, a moulded pillow and a 203 x 152cm sleeping surface. It is sold through GO Outdoors, which lists it at £100 at the time of writing (September 2026), or £65 with GO’s paid member’s card.

Height is the main reason to choose this bed. At a listed 56cm it matches the tallest air beds we rank and sits close to the height of a divan, which makes it easier to sit on and stand up from than the 36.5 to 46cm guest beds further down our ranking. The surrounding frame stops a sleeper rolling off the edge, and the flocked top keeps sheets from sliding. Hi-Gear’s Tritech I-beam construction supports the sleeping surface, and the pillow is moulded into the head end, so a guest can sleep with a thin pillow or none at all.

Firmness is set by how much air you put in, so inflate it fully, lie down and let a little out until your hips stop pressing into the surface. The same pump deflates the bed, which makes it much quicker to fold back into its 39 x 21 x 35.5cm bag than squeezing the air out by hand. GO Outdoors lists the PVC as phthalate free.

At 152cm wide the bed is 2cm wider than a standard 150 x 200cm UK king mattress, so it fills a spare room like a king rather than a double. The weaknesses are practical. Hi-Gear does not state a maximum load, the bed weighs 9.4kg packed, and the pump runs from the mains only, so it is a spare-room or hook-up bed rather than one for a festival field.

GO Outdoors charges £3.99 for standard delivery, free on orders over £80, and accepts returns within 28 days. Hi-Gear states no warranty term for its airbeds, so a fault is handled by GO Outdoors, and the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you 30 days to reject a faulty bed outright.
