B&M is a British variety discount retailer that sells homeware, bedding, garden, DIY and grocery lines at low prices from 799 UK stores, according to the group’s at-a-glance figures. It is a high-street shop first: most of its bedding, mattress toppers included, is listed on bmstores.co.uk but sold in store only, with a store finder on each product page instead of a basket.

From one Blackpool shop to the FTSE 100

The company history dates B&M to 1978, when its first store opened in Blackpool. Simon and Bobby Arora bought the business in December 2004, when it traded from 21 stores, and moved its head office and main distribution centre to Speke, Liverpool, in 2010. B&M listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2014, joined the FTSE 100 in September 2020 and opened its 700th UK store in 2022. The group also owns Heron Foods, bought in 2017, and trades as B&M in France.

B&M bedding and mattress toppers

B&M’s topper range is small. In October 2026 it listed three toppers in seven size listings: a Silentnight fibre topper, a Beldray memory foam topper and a quilted fibre topper under its own Simply Thermal label, alongside Silentnight and own-label mattress protectors.

B&M offers no sleep trial on bedding. Its returns policy, printed on each product page, gives 30 days with proof of purchase, but mattresses, toppers, duvets and pillows can only go back unused, in their original packaging and in a resaleable condition. Prices are fixed shelf prices; we found no B&M affiliate programme or online discount codes for bedding.
