The John Lewis Specialist Support Ultimate Dual Layer Topper is the premium memory foam topper in the John Lewis range. It combines temperature-sensitive memory foam in a Podz Mini design, which John Lewis says responds independently across the surface, with a cover filled with polyester fibre, for a total depth of 4.5cm. Construction

The John Lewis product page describes 5cm of memory foam, while its dimension listing gives the whole topper as 4.5cm deep, so expect a little under 5cm in total. The memory foam is cut into small separate pods rather than one solid sheet, and the fibre-filled cover on top softens the first contact. John Lewis describes the result as balanced softness with supportive comfort. It is made in the UK, has a 100% polyester cover and a double weighs 10kg.

Care

John Lewis lists it as machine washable at 40°C with a low tumble dry, which is unusual for a foam topper. At 10kg for a double, check that your machine can take the load before relying on it. It must not be dry cleaned, ironed or bleached. An elasticated band fits mattresses up to 32cm deep, and it carries a two-year guarantee.

Like every John Lewis topper, it can only be returned unopened, unused and with its seals intact unless it is faulty, and there is no sleep trial. Standard delivery was free on orders over £50 (£4.50 below that) and Click and Collect free over £40 when we checked in October 2026.

Who it suits

It suits side sleepers who want pressure relief at the shoulder and hip and like the close hug of memory foam. Memory foam generally sleeps warmer than fibre or wool, so hot sleepers may prefer the 5-Zone Aurora foam topper or a wool topper. At this price, with no sleep trial and returns only if unopened, be sure memory foam is the feel you want before you order. Back sleepers who only want a little extra cushioning will find the cheaper Soft Touch fibre topper enough.
