Hi-Gear discount codes & offers

Hi-Gear, also written Hi Gear, is a budget camping brand sold in the UK through GO Outdoors, Blacks, Millets and Ultimate Outdoors, and its airbeds are the part of the range that doubles as a guest bed. The Hi Gear brand site claims more than 30 years of experience in outdoor equipment, from tents and sleeping bags to stoves and air beds, and sends buyers to those four retailers instead of selling direct.

Buying Hi-Gear airbeds

Because Hi-Gear has no shop of its own, the retailer’s terms apply. On the GO Outdoors listing for the Comfort King Size Airbed, standard delivery costs £3.99 and is free on orders over £80, next-day delivery costs £5.99, and you can return or exchange within 28 days of delivery or collection. The same page lists the Comfort King at 203 x 152 x 38 cm, 6.9 kg, with a maximum load of 250 kg and a retail price of £80, and shows a lower member’s price for holders of the GO membership card, which costs £5 a year. We found no guarantee period published for Hi-Gear airbeds.

Size and power

Both Hi-Gear king airbeds in our catalogue measure 203 x 152 cm, so they are wider than a UK double (135 x 190 cm) and slightly larger than a UK king (150 x 200 cm). The High Rise Flock listing gives a height of 56 cm, close to a standard bed, and a built-in pillow. Both beds use a built-in mains pump, so on a campsite you need an electric hook-up to inflate them.

Where Hi-Gear ranks, and who it suits

The Hi-Gear High Rise Flock King Size Airbed ranks near the top of our air mattress comparison, and the Hi-Gear Comfort King Size Airbed is the lower, cheaper alternative. Hi-Gear suits you if you want an inexpensive king-size airbed for guests or car camping with mains power, and are happy to deal with GO Outdoors, Blacks or Millets for delivery and returns. It does not suit wild camping without electricity, nightly use in place of a mattress, or anyone who wants a stated guarantee.
