Sofabed Gallery Deluxe Sprung Sofa Bed Mattress im Test

The Sofabed Gallery Deluxe Sprung is an open coil replacement mattress for 2-fold sofa beds, 11cm deep in its single widths and 12cm in its double widths, made in the UK to Sofabed Gallery’s specification. It is the cheapest sprung grade on Sofabed Gallery’s replacement mattress page, from £141.10 for a 76cm chair bed.

Construction

The core is what Sofabed Gallery calls a flex-comfort open coil unit, with 288 springs in the 144cm large double, against 1,088 pocket springs in the same width of its Ultimate Pocket Sprung. Natural padding sits over the springs, then reflex foam, under a damask cover. Both sides are finished, so you can turn it to spread the wear, and Sofabed Gallery rates the support as medium, 5 out of 10 on our scale.

Sizes and prices

Prices are from sofabedgallery.co.uk at the time of writing (October 2026). Doubles ship from stock on a date you select. Of the shop’s nine grades, this is also the only one it will upgrade to CRIB 5, the ignition test that SATRA lists for medium-hazard settings such as hotels; Sofabed Gallery sells that version separately as its Hotel Contract Grade mattress.

Who it suits

The Deluxe Sprung suits a 2-fold sofa bed used for occasional guests, where a springy, traditional feel matters more than pressure relief, and the chair-bed and single widths make it one of the few sprung options for a single chair bed. Open coil springs are linked together, so movement travels across the mattress more than on pocket springs. One customer review published on Sofabed Gallery’s own page reports a clicking sound from the fillings, which the shop answered as normal compression noise; if you are a light sleeper, the pocket sprung grade is the safer buy. The National Bed Federation notes that a spare bed used occasionally wears differently from one slept on every night, and for the second case we would spend the difference on pocket springs.
