Firmness: Medium softA 10cm anti-allergy hollowfibre topper, made in the UK and machine washable, that turns a firm mattress plush for little money.
The Silentnight Anti-Allergy Ultimate 1000 is a 10cm hollowfibre mattress topper with anti-allergy fibres, made in the UK and sold on Tesco Marketplace in double, king and super king. It is the cheapest way we found on tesco.com to make a firm mattress feel deep and soft.
The Tesco listing describes a quilted cover with internal walls that keep the filling spread evenly, a 10cm depth and elasticated straps that hold it on the mattress. Silentnight says the fibres are approved by the British Allergy Foundation and protect against dust mites and bacteria, and the whole topper goes in the washing machine at 40°C. The packaging pictured on the listing states made in the UK and a 2-year guarantee. The listing text mentions five years, so keep your receipt and plan on the shorter term.
| Size | Dimensions | Tesco price |
|---|---|---|
| Double | 135x190cm | £39.99 |
| King | 150x200cm | £44.99 |
| Super king | 180x200cm | £49.99 |
All three sizes are sold and sent by eBedding LTD, a Marketplace seller, with free standard delivery and free returns within 30 days. These were regular prices, with no sale running, on 11 October 2026. There is no single or small double of this model on tesco.com.
Allergy UK’s house dust mite factsheet says washing at 60°C or above kills mites, while lower temperatures only wash the allergen away for a while. This topper is labelled for 40°C, so the wash keeps it fresh but leaves the mites alive, and the treated fibre has to do the rest. For a diagnosed mite allergy, Allergy UK recommends barrier covers that fully enclose the mattress, which a topper cannot do on its own.
Ten centimetres of fibre sit well above the 5cm minimum that the National Bed Federation’s Bed Advice UK suggests for a topper to make a noticeable difference. We rate it soft, 3 on a 10-point scale: you sink into a plump, duvet-like layer rather than lying on top of it. It suits side sleepers and anyone softening a hard spare-room mattress. Because fibre compresses where you put the most weight, it adds little support, and the same guide warns that a topper will not save a worn-out mattress. A topper this deep also needs fitted sheets with deep pockets. Our Tesco topper comparison sets it against the memory foam, wool, cooling and heated options sold there.

“We recommend it as the first topper to try if your mattress feels hard and you want an easy-care, allergy-friendly layer. It cushions rather than supports, so it will not rescue a mattress that has started to sag.”Go to shop →
