The Aspire Double Comfort Memory Rolled Mattress is a 19.5cm Bonnell sprung mattress with a double layer of memory foam directly under its diamond-quilted Cool Touch cover. It is made in the UK, rolled into a box for delivery and priced in the bottom tier of Aspire’s range, from £148 for a small single.

Seven layers over an open coil

Aspire publishes a cross-section of this mattress on its product page. The memory foam sits where you feel it most, right under the cover, with a recycled fibre layer beneath to stop you sinking onto the springs:

Layer, top to bottom What Aspire uses
Sleep surface Aspire Cool Touch fabric, diamond quilted
Comfort foam Double layer of memory foam
Fibre layer 400gsm high-loft recycled polyester
Insulator Recycled felt pad
Spring unit Bonnell open coil, up to 460 springs
Base layer 400gsm high-density recycled polyester
Underside Recycled non-slip base fabric

Aspire does not give this model a firmness rating. From the build we would place it at medium: memory foam on top softens the first few centimetres, while a Bonnell unit with up to 460 springs is firmer underneath than most budget coils. It sits very close to Aspire’s Eco Foam Rolled, which adds a recycled support foam and costs the same or up to £2 more depending on size, so treat the two as near twins and buy whichever is cheaper in your size on the day.

Sizes and prices

Size Mattress size (cm) Aspire price
Small single (2ft6) 75 x 190 £148
Single (3ft) 90 x 190 £148
Small double (4ft) 120 x 190 £180
Double (4ft6) 135 x 190 £180
King (5ft) 150 x 200 £208.99

Prices checked on 15 October 2026; none were reduced. Aspire’s description mentions a super king, but the size selector stops at a 5ft king, and that is what you can actually order. Delivery to the doorstep is free on the UK mainland, and the box is small enough for one person to move to the bedroom.

What it does well, and where it falls short

For a side sleeper on a tight budget, the memory foam is the point: it lets the shoulder settle in a way that a fibre-topped open coil does not. The open coil is the limitation. Its springs are wired together, so movement travels across the bed, and over years the coil tends to dip where you lie most.

Aspire’s specification lists a 12-month warranty for this model, even though the page also carries a 5-year badge; plan on one year. There is no trial, and under Aspire’s returns policy a mattress with a broken hygiene seal is excluded from the 14-day cancellation right, unless faulty. The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 allow a seller to exclude sealed goods that are unsuitable for return for hygiene reasons once they have been unsealed, which is the rule Aspire applies.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“A side sleeper furnishing a first flat or a spare room gets genuine memory foam comfort here for well under £200 in a double. Couples and anyone wanting a mattress to last a decade should save for a pocket sprung model with a longer guarantee.”
