The Aspire Eco Foam Rolled Mattress is a 20cm open coil mattress with two layers of memory foam and a recycled support foam above the springs, rated medium by Aspire. It costs a little more than Aspire’s foam-free Comfort Rolled and buys you a slower, more contouring surface, which is what most people want from a budget mattress they will sleep on every night.

Eight layers in 20cm

Aspire’s cross-section names every layer, and it is a busier build than the price suggests:

Layer, top to bottom What Aspire uses
Sleep surface Aspire Cool Touch quilted fabric
Comfort foam Double layer of memory foam
Fibre layer 400gsm high-loft recycled polyester
Support foam Recycled foam layer
Insulator Recycled felt, both sides of the springs
Spring unit Bonnell open coil, up to 460 springs
Base layer 400gsm high-density recycled polyester
Underside Recycled non-slip base fabric

The memory foam sits directly under the cover, so this is the layer you feel first: it softens the shoulder and hip of a side sleeper better than fibre alone, while the open coil keeps some bounce underneath. The trade-off is heat. Memory foam holds more warmth than the fibre in the Comfort Rolled, and the Cool Touch fabric only goes some way to offset it. The linked open coil also carries movement across the bed, so a restless partner is more noticeable than on a pocket sprung mattress.

Sizes and prices

Size Mattress size (cm) Aspire price
Small single (2ft6) 75 x 190 £150
Single (3ft) 90 x 190 £150
Small double (4ft) 120 x 190 £180
Double (4ft6) 135 x 190 £180
King (5ft) 150 x 200 £210

We read these prices on Aspire’s product page on 15 October 2026; none were reduced. The range stops at king, so there is no super king. Delivery is free to the doorstep on the UK mainland, and the mattress arrives vacuum packed and rolled, which helps with attic rooms and narrow landings.

Who it suits

A side or back sleeper of average build who wants a soft top on a tight budget will get the most from it, and so will a spare room that gets used every weekend. A child moving up to a first single bed is another good fit, because the memory foam layer is soft enough for a light sleeper to sink into. If you weigh more than average, sleep hot or share the bed with a partner who moves a lot, look at a pocket sprung model instead.

Warranty and returns

Like the other Aspire Essentials mattresses, the Eco Foam Rolled carries a 12-month warranty rather than the five years on Aspire’s hand-tufted range. There is no sleep trial. Aspire’s returns policy removes the 14-day right to cancel once a mattress’s hygiene seal is broken, unless it is faulty, so treat the order as final once you open it. Every mattress sold in the UK has to meet the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988, and Aspire states its Essentials range does.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Eco Foam Rolled is the better of Aspire's two cheapest rolled mattresses for nightly use, because the memory foam gives side sleepers the cushioning the fibre-only model lacks. Couples and warm sleepers should spend more on a pocket sprung mattress with natural fillings.”
