The fabric

Waffle, or honeycomb, weave interlaces threads into a grid of raised squares. The pockets trap a little warm air, so waffle bedding feels thicker and cosier than flat-woven cotton while the cotton fibre still breathes. Simba uses 100% cotton at 200 thread count, coloured with organic dyes. The texture adds depth to a plain bed and hides creases, so ironing is optional. The fabric is certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, the label for textiles tested for harmful substances, and it is made by the Costa family in Guimarães, Portugal.

The cover and pillowcases close with buttons, and tape ties in all four corners anchor the duvet. The covers are cut to the same four sizes as Simba’s own duvets, so a Simba Hybrid Duvet fills them edge to edge. The raised grid of the weave adds visual texture to a plain bed and hides creases, so ironing is optional. It comes in four colours.

Sizes and prices

Size Duvet cover size (cm, W x L) Price
Double 200 x 200 £149
King 225 x 220 £169
Super king 260 x 220 £189

Prices were checked on simbasleep.com on 15 October 2026 and are the same for every colour. Bought separately, a double cover and pillowcase pair would cost £154, so the set saves £5. Delivery is free and next day for orders before 1pm.

Washing and care

Simba advises a cold wash with similar colours and a low tumble dry with wool dryer balls. The deeper honeycomb weave holds more water than flat cotton, so allow a little longer for it to dry fully before putting it back on the bed. Washing the cover and pillowcases together keeps their colours matched as they age.

Who it suits

We recommend this set for a cooler room, for winter, or for anyone who finds plain cotton bedding a little thin. Hot sleepers should look at percale, linen or Tencel instead, because waffle’s pockets hold warmth. It has the fewest buyer reviews in the range, six, though all give five stars. Bedding has a 30-day return window on Simba’s returns page.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Waffle Cotton Bedding Set is the cosiest bedding Simba sells and adds texture to a simple bedroom. It is the wrong choice for a hot sleeper, who will be better off with percale or Tencel.”
