The Simba Hybrid 3-in-1 Duvet is two duvets in one set: a light 3.5 tog duvet for summer and a 7 tog duvet for spring and autumn, which snap together into a 10.5 tog duvet for winter. Buyers rate it 4.8 out of 5 across 1,731 reviews, and it costs £249 for a single.

Each layer is a complete duvet with its own cover, square stitching and Stratos side. Used alone, the 3.5 tog layer suits hot nights, and the 7 tog layer suits the months either side of summer. Snapped together, they give a 10.5 tog duvet, the usual all-season weight in UK bedding, for winter. You store whichever layer you are not using in the bag supplied. Both layers are full size, so the set does not split down the middle: a couple shares the same tog, and it will not settle a disagreement between a hot sleeper and a cold one.
The fill is Simba Renew, polyester clusters made from recycled bottles, blended with 20% modal to help air pass through. Simba says its Stratos finish tested up to 3°C cooler than untreated fabric in measurements by HeiQ in November 2020, a lab result for the fabric rather than for a night’s sleep.

We recommend the 3-in-1 for anyone whose bedroom changes a lot with the seasons, a loft room or a north-facing house, and for people who sleep hot in summer but feel the cold in winter. The NHS sleep advice recommends a cool bedroom, and being able to drop to 3.5 tog makes that easier on warm nights. Simba also labels it menopause-friendly, and the NHS guidance on menopause symptoms notes night sweats as a common symptom. The drawbacks are the price and the work of washing and storing two duvets. Returns follow Simba’s 30-day policy on its returns page.

“The Hybrid 3-in-1 Duvet is the right buy if your bedroom swings from hot summers to cold winters, because you can use 3.5, 7 or 10.5 tog from one set. If you rarely change your bedding, the single 10.5 tog Hybrid Duvet costs about £150 less as a double.”Go to shop →
