A firm 10cm pocket sprung cot bed mattress from John Lewis with a removable, washable topper, also sold in cot size.
John Lewis sells several own-label mattresses for cots and cot beds, and this is its pocket sprung one. It comes in two sizes that share the same build: 140 x 70cm for cot beds and 120 x 60cm for cots, both 10cm deep and suitable from birth.
The core is a unit of individually pocketed steel springs, 190 in the cot bed size and 136 in the cot size, wrapped in polyester fibre. John Lewis describes the support as firm, which is what safe sleep guidance asks for in a baby mattress.
The top is a Cairfull topper that unzips and lifts off for washing without removing the rest of the cover. Underneath is an air-permeable PU panel that keeps the surface dry and acts as a backup sleep surface while the topper is in the wash. The cover can be machine washed at 40°C.
It is made in the UK. John Lewis recommends turning and airing it regularly and using a mattress protector. The listed maximum user weight is 21kg, so it covers the cot bed years.
