The Soak&Sleep Goose Down Dual Chamber Mattress Topper is a 7cm cassette-stitched topper with two hidden chambers: a top chamber of 70% goose down and 30% goose feather over a base chamber of 100% goose feather. It is the brand’s most expensive topper, sold in six sizes from single to emperor, and it adds warmth and loft rather than support.

Two chambers, two jobs

Chamber Filling (seller spec) What it adds
Top 70% goose down, 30% goose feather Soft, lofty, insulating surface
Bottom 100% goose feather Springier, medium-firm body underneath
Casing 233 thread count cotton percale, downproof Breathable, keeps quills in
Total depth 7cm, cassette construction, bound edges Even fill, elastic corner straps

The product page rates the firmness as medium, while the copy describes “gentle medium-firm support” from the feather base. By design, the down chamber forms the sleeping surface and the feather chamber keeps you from pressing through to the mattress below. Soak&Sleep says the feather and down is classed as Superclean on its turbidity and oxygen ratings, which it presents as suitable for allergy sufferers. It was designed in the UK and is made in China.

Who a down topper suits

Soak&Sleep describes goose down as “lofty, soft and wonderfully insulative, making it perfect for anyone who feels the cold”, which is the point of this topper and also its main limitation. The Sleep Charity recommends a bedroom of around 16 to 18°C and warns that above 24°C restlessness becomes likely, so a 7cm down layer makes most sense in a cool room or for someone who feels the cold.

Care, guarantee and returns

Natural fill asks for more upkeep than fibre. Soak&Sleep recommends shaking the topper out weekly, a professional wash and dry about every six months, and a cool tumble dry until completely dry, because damp feathers clump and smell. The guarantee is five years, the top of the brand’s topper range. There is no sleep trial on toppers; the 365-day returns policy covers items returned unused, unwashed and in the original packaging.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“Choose the Goose Down Dual Chamber topper if you sleep cold and want real down loft on a firm mattress; the five-year guarantee is generous for a topper. Hot sleepers, and anyone who wants a topper they can wash at home, should look at the brand's hollowfibre Soft As Down instead.”
