The fabric

This line is woven as sateen, where each thread floats over three and under one. That puts more yarn on the surface, so the fabric feels silky, drapes well and has a soft sheen. Simba uses 100% Egyptian cotton at 300 thread count, the highest in its bedding range, and says the cotton is certified by the Cotton Egypt Association, which licenses manufacturers to label products as genuine Egyptian cotton. The finished pieces also carry OEKO-TEX Standard 100, the safety label for textiles tested for harmful substances. Like all Simba bedding, it is cut and sewn by the Costa family in Guimarães, Portugal.

The duvet cover fastens with coconut shell buttons rather than plastic ones. The covers are cut to the same four sizes as Simba’s own duvets, so a Simba Hybrid Duvet fills them edge to edge. A fitted sheet in the same fabric is sold separately if you want the whole bed to match.

Sizes and prices

Size Duvet cover size (cm, W x L) Price
Single 135 x 200 £129
Double 200 x 200 £139
King 225 x 220 £149
Super king 260 x 220 £159

Prices are for the regular colours on simbasleep.com, checked on 15 October 2026. Bought separately, a double cover and pillowcase pair cost £144, so the set saves £5. Light Cappuccino and Dusty Rose were on clearance at much lower prices. Delivery is free and next day for orders before 1pm.

Washing and care

Simba recommends washing inside out on a cold cycle with similar colours, then a low tumble dry with wool dryer balls. Turning the fabric inside out protects the sateen sheen from rubbing against other laundry. Sateen creases less than percale, so a firm shake before making the bed is usually enough. Washing the cover and pillowcases together keeps their colours matched as they age.

Who it suits

We recommend this set if you want a silky, heavier drape and a bed that looks smooth with minimal ironing. Sateen is a little warmer than percale, so very hot sleepers may prefer Simba’s percale or Tencel. Wash it inside out on a cold cycle to protect the sheen. Bedding falls under Simba’s 30-day return policy on its returns page, not the 200-night mattress trial.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Egyptian Cotton Bedding Set is the one to buy if you want hotel-style sateen and the best-rated cotton in Simba's range. If you sleep very hot, the Brushed Tencel set costs the same and feels cooler.”
