Duvalay Essentials Custom Caravan Mattress Topper reviewed

The Duvalay Essentials Custom Caravan Mattress Topper is a 5cm memory foam topper cut to the size and shape of your caravan bed, from Duvalay’s lower-priced Essentials range. It gives you a made-to-measure fit for noticeably less than the premium custom topper, at the cost of choice.

How it is made and ordered

The Duvalay product page describes 5cm of memory foam in a removable, washable hypoallergenic cover. You add the make, model and year of your caravan to the order notes, or supply a drawing or template, and Duvalay’s sales team confirms the measurements before cutting. There is one foam and one depth: the Gold, Silver and Freshtec grades of the premium range are not offered.

Prices by bed width

Against the cheapest 5cm premium custom topper, the saving is £79 to £116 depending on size. Prices were checked on 13 October 2026, and Duvalay excludes the Essentials range from all offers and discounts.

Who it suits

It is the sensible choice for a first caravan, or for a caravan used a handful of times a year, where the bed is a shaped island or French bed that a ready-made strip cannot cover. If you sleep hot, or prefer a firmer surface for your back, the premium custom topper’s Freshtec and Gold options are worth the extra. Duvalay sells the same Essentials topper for motorhomes at identical prices.

Measuring a shaped bed

Duvalay does not offer a measuring service, so the fit depends on the details you send. Its caravan measuring guide suggests measuring the widest and longest points first, then, for an island bed, working up the centre and noting the width every 10cm until the curve straightens out. A traced paper template of the bed is also accepted, and Duvalay works to a 1.5cm tolerance, so a few millimetres either way will not spoil the fit.

Returns

Because it is cut to order, the usual 14-day change-of-mind return does not apply. The Duvalay returns policy rules out refunds on custom-made items once production starts, unless the topper is faulty or more than 1.5cm out from the agreed measurements, so check the size you confirm carefully.
