Aspire Atlantic Wooden Ottoman Bed reviewed

The Aspire Atlantic Wooden Ottoman Bed is a shaker-style solid wood bed whose slatted platform lifts on gas struts to reveal storage across the whole footprint. It is the only wooden ottoman in Aspire’s own shop, which otherwise leans on upholstered frames, and it comes in a white painted or a natural varnished finish from single to super king. In white, the regular price starts at £244.99 for a single.

Build and storage

According to Aspire’s product page, the frame is solid wood with powder-coated steel ottoman components; the natural version adds veneered panels under a varnish. The slatted headboard stands 102cm tall on Aspire’s dimension drawing and the side rails are 37cm high. A fabric dust sheet lines the storage well, and the lift stays up on its own so both hands are free for loading, as long as your mattress weighs no more than 60kg. Check that figure before you order: a deep pocket sprung mattress in king or super king can go past it.

This is an end-lift design, so the mattress rises from the foot. You need room to stand at the end of the bed, which rules out layouts where the foot is pushed against a wall or a chest of drawers. The bed arrives flat packed; Aspire suggests two people and somewhere between 45 minutes and two hours to build it.

Sizes and prices

Aspire prints a struck-through “was” price next to every size. Do not let it rush you: the natural finish carried exactly the same reduction in May 2025, so the lower figure is simply what the bed costs. The natural version is a little cheaper than the white one, but in October 2026 it was down to its last units in single and small double and out of stock in double and king.

Where it falls short

The weak points are the paperwork rather than the wood. The frame is made in China, Aspire’s standard cover is a 12-month warranty, and the 14-day change-of-mind window is the cancellation period that the Consumer Contracts Regulations already give you on online orders, not a trial. Delivery is free to the doorstep on the UK mainland; carrying it upstairs is a paid two-person option.
