The Fara is the cheapest of Silentnight’s upholstered bed frames and the only one sold in a single. It pairs a low, rounded padded headboard with a fabric-covered frame and a wooden slatted base, and it is handmade in the UK. Prices start at £500 for a single on silentnight.co.uk.

Size Mattress (cm) Frame W x L (cm) From
Single 90x190 105 x 208 £500
Double 135x190 150 x 208 £550
King 150x200 165 x 216 £660
Super king 180x200 195 x 216 £800

Prices and dimensions come from the Silentnight product page, checked on 8 October 2026, with beech legs, the cheapest of five leg styles. Dark wood, chrome and the two slanted leg options cost a little more.

Frame, rails and slats

The side rails can be turned to sit higher or lower, so the frame works with a shallow or a deep mattress, and the frame side measures 33 to 37cm depending on the setting. The base is a set of flat wooden slats that let air reach the underside of the mattress. The National Bed Federation’s bed buyer’s guide notes that rigid slats have no give, so the mattress does all the work, and warns that a mattress on an unsuitable base can lose its guarantee. Check your mattress maker’s slat advice before you buy.

Who it suits

We recommend the Fara for a first upholstered bed or a spare room, where its plain rounded headboard sits easily with most decor. It arrives flat for self-assembly, delivered free to the room you choose, typically within 14 days, and carries a 5-year guarantee. There is no storage, and Silentnight takes beds back only within 14 days of delivery (returns terms). If you need space under the mattress, a divan with drawers suits you better.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Fara is the sensible way into Silentnight's upholstered range, and the only one of its frames you can buy as a single. Choose it for the clean look and adjustable rails, not for storage.”
