The Aspire Scroll Top Chesterfield Ottoman Bed is a sleigh-shaped storage bed in grey velvet: both the headboard and the footboard roll outwards at the top and carry rows of deep buttons, and the mattress platform lifts from the side on gas pistons. Bought direct from Aspire, a single costs £303 and a double £355, noticeably less than the same frame at Argos or B&Q in October 2026.
Aspire’s product page describes a foam-padded headboard, sprung slats and a side-opening mechanism that you can set up to open from either side. Once raised, the platform holds its position, which leaves both hands free to pack or unpack the storage well. Argos lists the cover as 100% polyester velvet. Because it is a side lift, it works in rooms where the foot of the bed faces a wall, though the sheer size of the frame cuts the other way.
The scrolled ends make this one of the largest frames Aspire sells. Every size is 25cm wider and 20cm longer than its mattress, and the headboard stands 110cm high.

Aspire also sells the bed in natural linen. It costs more in every size, but the linen page carries a five-year warranty badge where the grey velvet page shows one year, and a flatter weave breathes better than a velvet pile if you run warm. The grey velvet was in stock in every size in October 2026; the linen version was thinner on stock.
The frame is made in China and arrives flat packed. Upholstered beds sold in the UK have to meet the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988, and Aspire states this one does. The struck-through “was” price on the shop is a permanent fixture, so treat the lower price as the real one.
The lift can be assembled to open from the left or the right, and that choice is made with the screwdriver, not later. Work out which long side of the bed will stay clear of bedside tables and wardrobes before you start, because swapping it means taking the base apart again.
