Emma Box Bed
8.2/10Emma's upholstered frame with LVL slats and an optional height-adjustable headboard, for double to…
A Japandi solid oak bed with a low headboard and Sashimono joints that assemble without tools in about 15 minutes.
No firmness rating from the manufacturer.
The Yasumi is Simba’s Japandi-style oak bed, and its party trick is assembly. The joints use Japanese Sashimono joinery, so the corners slot together without nails, screws or tools, and Simba says two people can build it in about 15 minutes. This version has a low panelled headboard; the same frame is also sold without one as the Yasumi platform bed.
The frame and headboard are solid European oak in a Natural or Walnut finish with a subtle gloss, while the middle beam and support legs are solid pine. The plywood slats come attached to a fabric strip, so they roll out and push into place. Simba asks for care when lining up the corner joints, because forcing them can damage the parts. The bed is made in Vietnam and arrives in three boxes.

Simba sells the Yasumi frame in three versions. The platform bed has no headboard and costs £150 less as a double; the upholstered version swaps this oak headboard for a padded, slip-on fabric one at the same price. Choose the oak headboard if you want an all-wood look that wipes clean. All three carry the 200-night trial and a 10-year guarantee.
We recommend the Yasumi if you move house often or dread flat-pack instructions, and if you like a low, calm silhouette. It is pricier than the Sherwood for similar solid wood, its slats are plain plywood rather than sprung, and there is no storage underneath.

“The Yasumi is the easiest Simba bed to build and move, thanks to joinery that needs no screws, and the solid oak looks the part. It costs more than the Sherwood, so buy it for the design and the assembly rather than the slats.”Go to shop →
