The fabric

This line is woven as sateen, where each thread floats over three and under one. That puts more yarn on the surface, so the fabric feels silky, drapes well and has a soft sheen. Simba uses 100% Egyptian cotton at 300 thread count, the highest in its bedding range, and says the cotton is certified by the Cotton Egypt Association, which licenses manufacturers to label products as genuine Egyptian cotton. The finished pieces also carry OEKO-TEX Standard 100, the safety label for textiles tested for harmful substances. Like all Simba bedding, it is cut and sewn by the Costa family in Guimarães, Portugal.

The cover closes with coconut shell buttons. The covers are cut to the same four sizes as Simba’s own duvets, so a Simba Hybrid Duvet fills them edge to edge. Sateen drapes heavily and resists creasing better than percale, so a made bed looks smooth without much effort.

Sizes and prices

Size Duvet cover size (cm, W x L) Price
Single 135 x 200 £89
Double 200 x 200 £99
King 225 x 220 £109
Super king 260 x 220 £119

These are the regular prices on simbasleep.com, checked on 15 October 2026. Two clearance colours, Light Cappuccino and Dusty Rose, were selling for far less while stocks last. Delivery is free and next day for orders before 1pm.

Washing and care

Simba recommends washing inside out on a cold cycle with similar colours, then a low tumble dry with wool dryer balls. Turning the fabric inside out protects the sateen sheen from rubbing against other laundry. Sateen creases less than percale, so a firm shake before making the bed is usually enough. Undo any corner ties before washing so they do not knot together in the drum.

Who it suits

Choose this cover if you want the smooth, slightly glossy feel of a good hotel bed. It costs £20 more than the percale cover as a double and feels a touch warmer, so a hot sleeper may be happier with percale or Tencel. Wash it inside out to protect the sheen. Simba’s returns page gives 30 days to return unused bedding in its packaging.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Egyptian Cotton Duvet Cover is the best-rated cotton cover Simba sells and the one we would choose for a luxurious, smooth bed. It runs a little warmer than percale, which matters only if you overheat at night.”
