The Simba Cotton Percale Duvet Cover is a 200 thread count cotton cover with a crisp, matte finish, sold from £59 for a single. It is the least expensive cover in Simba’s bedding range and the one we would pick for warm sleepers, because percale is the coolest-feeling cotton weave.

The fabric

Percale is a weave, not a fibre: each thread passes over one and under the next, which gives a tight, matte cloth that feels crisp and cool. Simba uses 100% cotton at 200 thread count, a modest figure that keeps the fabric light and breathable rather than heavy. The fabric is woven and sewn by the Costa family in Guimarães, Portugal, and coloured with natural dyes; Simba says the dyes are GOTS-approved, which is a statement about the dyes, not a GOTS certificate for the bedding. The finished sheets are certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, the label for textiles tested against a list of more than 1,000 harmful substances.

Inside, tape ties in each corner hold the duvet in place, and the opening closes with buttons hidden under a flap. The covers are cut to the same four sizes as Simba’s own duvets, so a Simba Hybrid Duvet fills them edge to edge. Simba sells matching pillowcases and a fitted sheet in the same seven colours, or the cover and pillowcases together as a set for a small saving.

Sizes and prices

Size Duvet cover size (cm, W x L) Price

These are the regular prices on simbasleep.com, checked on 15 October 2026. Light Cappuccino and Dusty Rose were on clearance at lower prices while stocks last. Delivery is free, and orders placed before 1pm usually arrive the next working day.

Washing and care

Simba advises a cold wash with similar colours and a low tumble dry with wool dryer balls, which shorten drying time and help soften the cotton. Percale comes out of the dryer creased; taking it out promptly and smoothing it straight onto the bed removes most wrinkles if you would rather not iron. Undo any corner ties before washing so they do not knot together in the drum.

Who it suits

Pick this cover if you run warm at night or prefer a crisp, freshly made feel, as the NHS sleep advice notes that many people sleep better in a cool room. If you want something softer and heavier, the Egyptian Cotton cover costs £20 more as a double. Percale creases, so iron it if a smooth look matters. Simba’s returns page allows 30 days for returns on bedding, unused and in the original packaging.

Our verdict

Conclusion
“The Cotton Percale Duvet Cover is our budget pick for a cool, natural cover that stays put on the duvet. It creases easily, so it suits people who do not mind a lived-in bed or will iron it.”
