A French Rococo bed in hand-carved solid hardwood with tea-stained cane panels, from double up to Emperor size.
No firmness rating from the manufacturer.
The Louis XV Caned Bed is a French Rococo design: a hand-carved solid hardwood frame, carved rose motifs along the top rails and panels of hand-woven, tea-stained cane at both ends. The footboard is double-caned for strength. It is stocked in an antique pecan finish, with a sunburnt finish as the alternative, and the double starts at £4,745 with a slatted base.
| Size | Mattress size | Overall width x length | Regular price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Double | 135 x 190cm | not published | £4,745 |
| King | 150 x 200cm | 162 x 230cm | £5,230 |
| Small super king | 167 x 200cm | 180 x 230cm | £5,585 |
| Super king | 180 x 200cm | 195 x 230cm | £6,100 |
| Emperor | 202 x 200cm | 210 x 230cm | £7,315 |
Prices and dimensions are from the Louis XV Caned Bed page on andsotobed.co.uk, read on 9 October 2026, for the ASTB slatted base; the platform base costs more. The page is not fully consistent. Its dimensions tab skips the double and lists a Large Emperor that cannot be selected, so confirm the footprint of the double with a showroom. A seasonal sale was running when we checked.
The headboard is 120cm high and the footboard 79cm, and the scrolled ends add about 30cm to the length of a king. Cane is an open weave, so the ends look light even on the bigger sizes and let air move around the head of the bed. The timber comes from what the brand calls sustainable worldwide sources and is lacquered and waxed. As with any wooden bed, And So To Bed asks you to keep it away from radiators and direct sun, and to lift it from the middle rather than drag it by one end.
The Louis XV is the most recognisable French bed in the collection and works in both a country house and a pared-back modern room, where the cane softens plain walls. If you prefer a painted look there is a Louis XV Caned Painted Bed, and an upholstered Louis XV for anyone who wants a padded headboard to lean on. Cane is not comfortable to sit against for long, so readers in bed should bring plenty of pillows or choose the upholstered version.
Wooden bedsteads usually take 18 to 20 weeks. Delivery is £45 to mainland England, £95 for white glove assembly, and Scotland and Wales carry a £100 surcharge. Returns have to be notified within 14 days, and a bed made to order in a non-stock finish is only returnable if faulty. No guarantee period is published, and cane panels are hard to repair at home if a pet or child pushes through them.

“The Louis XV Caned Bed is the classic French bed of this collection, and the hand-carved solid hardwood frame is what justifies the price. We recommend it for anyone who sleeps rather than reads in bed, as the cane looks better than it feels against your back.”Go to shop →
