Cuggl 104 x 74cm Travel Cot Mattress reviewed

The Cuggl 104 x 74cm Travel Cot Mattress is the larger of Argos’s two own-brand travel cot mattresses, made for cots with a 104 x 74cm base. It is 5cm deep with a polyester core, and it is the only mattress in our comparison whose seller states compliance with BS EN 16890:2017+A1:2021.

Why the standard matters

BS EN 16890 sets safety requirements, including firmness and fit, for mattresses used in children’s cots, travel cots, cribs and suspended baby beds, according to its published scope. Argos gives the compliance statement in its answers on the product page. A stated standard does not replace your own checks, but it is more than most travel cot mattresses offer.

Construction and care

The cover is 100% polypropylene, removable and machine washable; Argos calls the mattress breathable, hypoallergenic and water resistant. It does not fold, which makes it better suited to a cot that stays at the grandparents’ house than one that goes on every trip.

Fit and price

A 104 x 74cm mattress will not lie flat in a 95 x 65cm cot, so measure the base first. The Lullaby Trust also asks parents to check the cot maker’s guidance before using any replacement travel cot mattress. Argos lists it at £33 with a one-year manufacturer’s guarantee.
